In the modern age of cable television, nothing is – or perhaps has been – more so than Yellowstone. Created by mega-producer Taylor Sheridan, the western centering on the Dutton family began as a drama for the Paramount Network before becoming a huge hit. Recently from “Yellowstone” season 5 finale is in the books, the series is over. What’s next? We’ll have to see, but looking back, what was the best episode of the show? There is a definitive answer, at least according to IMDB.
According to the summarized ratings by IMDBno episode has a higher rating than Half the Money. The episode worked The premiere of the 4th season of the TV series “Yellowstone”.first aired on November 7, 2021. By this point, audiences had caught up with the show, and it was firmly in “the biggest show on cable” territory. Written by Sheridan himself and directed by Stephen Kay, it kicked off the show’s fourth season with a bang.
The episode continues with a coordinated attack on the Duttons as everyone searches for those responsible. This episode really puts the Dutton family on their heels, John is almost killed and Beth has to look after him when he is released from the hospital. There’s an awful lot going on, a lot set up for the future, and that’s the only way to start the television season. It probably didn’t hurt that viewers were rewarded for their patience after the Season 3 finale.
“Everybody’s got a gun, and everybody’s got somebody they’re going to kill right now,” explained Ryan Bingham, who plays Walker in the series. feature film dissecting the episode. “It’s another level.”
The season 4 premiere of Yellowstone was the peak of the show
Another big thing this episode did was introduce Tim McGraw as JD Dutton, who would later appear in the prequel to the 1883 series. This provided an important piece of additional history for longtime viewers on top of all the modern action. In the same featurette, Sheridan discussed the opportunity to look back in time in the episode, seeing it as a unique opportunity not only for Yellowstone, but for television as a whole.
“There is a unique opportunity that we have not seen before. We can research the family from generation to generation… This is an opportunity to see the seed of this ranch and give as accurate a picture as possible of what life was like for the Duttons and the Native American family in this region, it was interesting for me to show how far we have come and how far we have come.’
Many viewers b I’ll probably tell you that Yellowstone got a little lost in Season 5. Whether it’s Costner’s unceremonious departure that forced some pretty crazy creative decisions, or just the show having slightly outlived its prime, it didn’t get any better after this episode. But every show has a peak, and this was a pretty high peak as far as the fans are concerned.
