A Bengaluru resident recently took to social media to highlight what they claim is Blinkit’s “fraudulent” practices. A user shared his experience of ordering oil through the app as part of a deal that advertised an extra liter for free the one liter free oil promised on delivery was not included.

“I ordered 5L + 1L of oil from Blinkit. Advertised as 5L + 1L in the app for Rs 1072. Delivery agent only delivers 5 litres,” wrote a customer identified as “Adventurous-Parsnip3” in a post on Reddit’s Bengaluru community.

The customer elaborated that after lodging a complaint, Blinkit responded by offering a R100 coupon as compensation, significantly less than the cost of a liter of leaked oil.

“We have lodged a complaint with Blinkit and asked them to either give us the full order or take back the 5L. They are now saying they will give a 100 rupees voucher for the item which was 1072/6=178 rupees as that is the maximum. is what their policy allows,” the Reddit user explained.

Redditor “Adventurous-Parsnip3” also noted that Blinkit’s internal policy does not bind its customers.

“Politics is an internal framework. The purpose of the policy is to set internal boundaries for the solution. As a consumer, we are not bound by the policy applied by Blinkit. We have no contractual obligations to the same,” they stated.

The user added: “They further claim that 1 liter of oil was free and hence no value can be attributed to it,” while questioning the practice and asking: “What is the available remedy against such scams?”

“Blinkit makes Rs. 178 more on each unit sold to customers who do not notice the fraud and Rs. 78 on each customer they come to an agreement with,” explained the customer.

The Redditor revealed that they escalated the issue by contacting Blinkit’s official support page on X (formerly Twitter), eventually securing a refund of Rs 180.

“I posted it to @blinkitcares on Twitter (X). Now they want a refund. 175. They were told they were going to refund 178.83 or nothing,” they shared in an update.

In a follow-up post, they added: 180 rupees refunded from Blinkit after raising issues with @BlinkitCares.Apparently they are doing me a big favor as a ‘one time special permission’ to log out. Oh, I feel special today.”
