Bayern Munich They are believed to be contemplating opening talks to sign an ‘incredible’ Liverpool player, according to a new report that has emerged from abroad.

Liverpool transfer news

The Reds may be flying high at the top of the Premier League table, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking at new signings, especially after some quiet transfer windows in recent years.

Bayern superstar Jamal Musiala has been mentioned as an audacious target in recent days, with the young striker one of the most exciting players in Europe at the moment. However, the German side will be very hesitant to let him go, and Liverpool would likely have to sell an attacking player to make room for him.

Arne Slott may have great midfield options at their disposal, despite missing out on Martin Zubimendi in the summer, but Real Madrid Aurelien Tchouameni continues to be mentioned as a target for the Reds. He has not always been a key starter this season and was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in 2022.

Another Bayern player, Alfonso Davieshas also been backed to join Liverpool as they look for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson at left-back, but the German giants could look to raid the Reds for a star of their own.

According to a report from Spain, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Liverpool star Cody Gakpopotentially opening talks with him in the near future.

The Bundesliga has shown a “strong” level of willingness to nab him FSG demanding around £66m for his signature. Although the Dutchman “remains focused” on the Reds, he has stated that “negotiations between both clubs could start soon”.

Cody Gakpo celebrates for Liverpool-1

Selling Gakpo makes no sense for Liverpool, considering the Dutchman has become such an influential attacking player under Slot. OK, if it means Musiala coming in the opposite direction, that could change things, but it seems unlikely.

The Dutchman is enjoying a brilliant season for the Reds, scoring 10 goals in all competitionsand journalist David Lynch recently praised his currently rich vein of form, saying: “What is it, eight goals in his last 12 and 10 goals contributed in this run? It’s incredible form.”

At 25, Gakpo is still a relatively young player who could also have additional teams to find, so Liverpool suddenly allowing him to leave would be very strange. On current form, he is part of Slot’s strongest starting XI, excelling in the left-back role in which Jurgen Klopp has often curiously chosen not to use him.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool will need to strengthen during the upcoming transfer windows.

The winger’s excellent equalizer at home to Leicester City on Boxing Day highlighted his importance, and he has scored big goals so often this season. The hope is that he remains a key part of the Reds’ attack for many years to come, but a move to Bayern could be one to watch out for in 2025.
