Avride launches Uber Eats sidewalk bottles in Jersey City
Uber Eats customers in Jersey City can now have their orders delivered by one of the autonomous robots for the Avride sidewalk.
Starting this week in New Jersey is Uber’s last raid in autonomous vehicles and is an expanding connection to Avride. The ride and delivery giant deploy AVS on its app in 11 cities with six partners, including CartkenCoco, Soleand Serve robotics; In addition, I prepare to introduce the Waymo robotaxis in its app in Austin and Atlanta in early 2025
Uber initially announced his Partnership with Avride To carry both the company’s delivery bottles and its autonomous vehicles to the Uber platform in October 2024. Since then, the two have started robotic supplies in Austin and DallasS
They also plan to launch Avride’s self -driving cars in Dallas this year, which will be the first implementation of Avride Robotaxi in the USA Avride is a rotation by Yandex, the Russian technology company that is Devationary business last year As a result of the invasion of Russia in 2022 in Ukraine. The launch also recently announced a Grubhub bond to bring bots to university campuses in the United States, starting with 100 robots at Ohio State University.
Jersey City is an interesting, albeit challenging choice. Especially in February, when a mixture of snow, rain and freezing temperatures can make it difficult for small bots to be delivered.
Avride says his bots can work in the snow and in “moderate rainfall”. A spokesman also noted that while bottles can travel up to 5 miles per hour with a range of 31 miles with a single charge, their optimal delivery range is within one to two miles.
Avride will operate the bots through a square mile from the center of Jersey City, from Hamilton Park to the historic city center to the sea, with plans to expand in the future. Avride declined to say how many bots would put on the streets of Jersey City when firing.
A handful of restaurants, including Michelin with Jiangnan, Rumi Turkish Grill and Gulp, will participate. Customers who order the Uber Eats app will be able to choose between the traditional courier or Avride robot to deliver their food.

They will also be able to track the location of the bot with the Uber Eats app. Customers will receive a notification when the bot arrives, and they can use the app to unlock it and grab their food.
During the Fourth Quarter Profit Report of Uber last week, Executive Director Dara Hoshouchahi noted This 2024 was a turning point for the AV industry, which he believes is a trillion dollar only in the United States.
Despite this optimism, he warned that AV commercialization would take some time due to a number of factors, including high cost of equipment with sensory costume S
