Aura Aspen’s digital photographic frame has a greater, better screen, but it will cost you
If you’ve ever tried to buy a digital photo frame, you probably know that the market is full of bad products. Aura are the exception -They are well designed, have great screens, the software is easy to use and there is no subscription to subscribe. Today the company diversifies its composition With the new Aspen framewhich sits comfortably between the 10-inch Rarver frame and the 15-inch Walden option.
With an 11.8-inch 1600 x 1200 display, it is larger and has a significantly higher resolution than Mat Rarver’s 10.1-inch frame (my current choice for the best digital frame on the market). This display has built-in light sensors to adjust the brightness depending on the environment that does a good job so you don’t feel like you are staring at a monitor or tablet-experience of these frames is definitely finer. In addition, there is a movable stand that allows you to adjust the frame in a portrait or landscape orientation; The greater and larger Rarver base means that it can only be placed in landscape. Since the stand is removable, the flicker is much smoother and easier than I expected.
But its more light dimensions do not come at the expense of structural integrity. I tested a bunch of frames with movable stands so that they could be aligned in a portrait or landscape, and in principle, they all have stands that are unclear, ugly or both. Aspen’s stand, on the other hand, feels impressively solid and well designed.
The Carver frame line included a sensor strip for sliding through photos or adjusting how fast it moves between the images. There are two in Aspen, so controls are easily accessible, no matter which orientation is. Getting photos on Aspen requires the use of the Aura application, but it is again the best digital photo frame I used. It is quite easy to sync specific images and albums from your phone and you can also add photos by sending them to a specific email address that you can set up.
There are also several new software tricks in the app. You can add a text inscription to any image you uploaded to the frame that will appear when the photo appears, and you can also filter from the people in the app now. Aura says all the processing of the face is done on the device. The application otherwise integrates easily with Apple / iCloud photos and Google photos.
Aspen is sold today for $ 229 and is available in either black ink or clay white; Both have a finely textured white mat around the image. This is much more than $ 179, a higher-up Rerver Mat with a higher resolution, a smaller footprint and the flexibility of walking a portrait or landscape can be worth it.
