King Charles is deeply saddened by the death of a Briton who was killed in a car attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, palace sources say.

Edward Pettyfer, 31, who was among the 14 people killed in the attack, is believed to be the stepson of Alexandra Pettyfer, known as Tiggy, who nursed Prince William and Prince Harry as children.

Palace sources told the BBC the royal had contacted Mr Pettyfer’s family to offer his personal condolences.

Mr Pettifer’s family described him as “a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to many”.
