Astro Bot wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024

Team Asobi’s Astro Bot took home the trophy today, the tenth Game of the Year winner at The Game Awards. Studio head Nicola Doucet accepted the award from previous winner Swen Vincke of Larian Studiosand thanked the rest of the studio for their work and passion. The game beat out several other favorites, including player vote winner Black Myth: Wukong, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Balatro, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Astro Bot took home several other awards on the night, including Game Direction, Family Game, and Action/Adventure Game. Several other GOTY contenders also took home awards – Astro Bot wasn’t quite as clean as Baldur’s Gate 3 last year. Balatro took home both Best Indie Game and Best Debut Indie Game, as well as Best Mobile Game. Metaphor: ReFantazio also won Best RPG and Art Direction, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took Best Score and Music.
