Aston Villa striker Duran on the scoresheet as Manchester City fall behind
Manchester City found themselves behind again at Villa Park this afternoon as Jhon Duran heaped more misery on Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.
The Colombian striker, named ahead of Ollie Watkins in the starting eleven, headed home after 16 minutes, turning Morgan Rogers’ pass into a frantic opener.

The goal was long overdue with Villa twice going close before the goal. First, Duran found himself in the clear after just 19 seconds, but saw his shot saved by Stefan Ortega. From the resulting corner, the German made a brilliant save to keep Pau Torres’ header from crossing the line.
Despite Jack Grealish’s best efforts against his former club, City created little in the opening 35 minutes. His best effort fell to Phil Foden, but his shot was blocked by Emiliano MartÃnez in the Villa goal.
City entered the competition with just one win from their last 11 games
