Aqara’s Little Do-It-All Dial Was One of the Most Interesting Products for the Home at CES 2025
Akara entered CES 2025 with multiple new smart home devices and a focus on creating unique, connected controls for a wide variety of home technologies, no matter who you got them from. This includes one of the most unique home gadgets we spotted at CES this year, the Touchscreen Dial V1, a multi-function knob that can help all kinds of smart homes. It’s not quite a smart thermostat, and it’s not quite a light knob, but instead it’s a general controller, a kind of home hub that you can connect to all sorts of things.
If you have seen Nest Thermostat touchscreen/dial comboyou can see that the touch screen dial works in a similar way except that it is not a thermostat and is not connected to the heating/cooling controls of the thermostat. Instead, it is installed in a regular light switch and is significantly smaller than a thermostat.
The haptic feedback wheel is a great way to control connected smart lighting, dim or change the color temperature with one touch, but you can also move it to adjust connected smart curtains or blinds or increase the temperature wirelessly connected thermostat. And this is only the tip of a comprehensive iceberg.
The Aqara dial can control individual lights or curtains, as well as entire home routines.
The dial is equipped with both a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor so you can judge the comfort in the room, as well as a proximity sensor so it lights up with information only when someone approaches. Also, you can program it with homemade routines such as morning or evening changes and perform them with a touch of the 1.32-inch touch screen on the dial. Even if you don’t care about routines, sliding the touchscreen allows the dial to control the light or curtain of your choice.
Once installed, you can add accessories via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from multiple platforms, including Google Home, Home of Apple and Amazon Alexa. When you’re not using the watch face, you can choose a watch face such as a clock or temperature reader to get quick information as you walk by.
Aqara’s watch face works with common smart home platforms and many different devices.
If buyers are in the mood for something bigger, they can also look forward to the S1 Plus All-in-One Control Panel, a panel that takes up more space but has a larger touchscreen that can show camera viewswhich allows for two-way audio and other tricks. But we love the simplicity and unique style of the touch dial and can’t wait to try it out with some of our other home tech.
