Severance follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his colleagues at a fictitious biotech company called Lumon, who have undergone brain surgery that separates their work and personal lives. When they are in the office, they have no memory of their life outside and vice versa. But strange things begin to happen, including the sudden firing of a longtime colleague, which prompts Mark and his colleagues to question the company they work for and its motives. It’s a fascinating commentary on work-life balance (or lack thereof), bolstered by understated but memorable characters and a focused plot.
Season 1 ends with such a gripping failure that you’ll be desperate to skip ahead to Season 2 at the earliest opportunity. And finally, the wait is almost over. The second season of Severance lands on Apple TV Plus on friday, January 17. There are 10 episodes that will be released on a weekly basis – likely leaving viewers on the edge of their seats between airings.
You now also have the option of accessing Apple TV Plus through another streamer: Prime Video. This can make the platform easier to access and give it added visibility – therefore simplifying the process of binging Severance Season 2 (or whatever you’re watching).
And if you want to catch up on Season 1 before you activate an Apple TV Plus subscription, you can free on the Roku Channel (although you will have to watch ads).
Subscribe to Apple TV Plus for $10 a month. If you want to try it out before you commit, you can sign up for a 7-day free trial. And if you bought a new Apple device, you’ll get three months of Apple TV Plus for free as long as you redeem the offer within 90 days.
How to watch Severance from anywhere with a VPN
What if you’re traveling abroad and want to stream Severance while you’re away from home? With a VPN, you can virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to access the series from anywhere in the world. There are other good reasons to use a VPN for streaming.
A VPN is the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds by encrypting your traffic. Using a VPN is also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network and want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins. Streaming TV can be a little smoother with a reliable, quality VPN that has passed our tests and security standards.
You can use a VPN to legally stream content as long as the VPNs are legal in your country and you have a valid subscription to the streaming service you’re using. The US and Canada are among the countries where VPNs are legal, but we advise against streaming or downloading content from illegal torrent sites. We recommend ExpressVPN, but you can choose another provider from our best list, such as Surfshark or NordVPN.
ExpressVPN is our current pick for the most secure and reliable VPN service. It’s fast, works on multiple devices and offers stable streams. ExpressVPN is normally $13 per month, but you can save money with an annual plan. There’s also a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Follow the VPN provider’s instructions for installation and select a country where Severance streams on Apple TV Plus. Before opening the streaming app, make sure you’re connected to your VPN via your chosen region. If you want to stream Severance to more than one device, you may need to configure each one to make sure you’re signed in. Go to settings and check your network connections to confirm that you are logged in and connected to your VPN account. You’re now ready to open Apple TV Plus for streaming.
If you experience streaming problems, first make sure your VPN is active and running on its encrypted IP address. Double-check that you have followed the installation instructions correctly and have selected the correct geographic viewing area. If you are still experiencing connection issues, you may need to restart your device. Close all apps and windows, restart your device and connect to your VPN first. Note that some streaming services have VPN access restrictions.
