AOC loses bid to be top Democrat on powerful House Oversight Committee
Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lost her bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, losing to Gerry Connolly of Virginia.
Connolly led Ocasio-Cortez by 131 votes to 84, seen as a blow to progressives who supported Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the progressive Caucus.
“I thank my colleagues for their support and confidence in me to lead the House Democratic Oversight Committee,” Connolly said.
