Amazon debuts a robot warehouse with a sense of “touch”
Amazon He says That he has developed a new warehouse robot, Vulcan, which can “feel” some of the objects he touches.
The two -legged volcano, which can maneuver goods in the storage compartments, in its warehouses, uses power sensors to help it understand when it makes contact with an object. One hand rearranges elements in a compartment, while the second hand – which is equipped with a camera and a suction cup – grabs elements.
Amazon says Vulcan has been trained for physical data, including feedback and touch, to choose about 75% of Amazon’s shares and that he is able to cultivate himself over time. The robot is located in Spokan, Washington and Hamburg, Germany, where he has so far processed half a million orders.
A volcano is just the most addition to Amazon’s navy fleet. He uses hundreds of thousands to fulfill customers’ orders in his global storage facilities. While critics claim that Amazon’s robotics investments are an effort to replace human workers, Amazon claims that this is not the case by arguing robots like Vulcan, just make their warehouses more forthcomingS
