Adobe Firefly Bulk Create edits multiple images at once

Corporate advertising messages often have to re-edit the same images multiple times to keep their websites and social media fresh. With the advent of AI-based image or video editing platforms, organizations will turn to these products to reduce these tedious tasks.

Adobe announced Adobe Firefly Bulk Create, a new product connected to its Adobe Firefly Services API suite that streamlines the process. Bulk Create is a web application that allows users to edit multiple photos with AI at once.

Bulk Create can currently do two things: change backgrounds and resize images. Usage Adobe’s Firefly modelusers can remove or replace the background of the photos they upload all at once. They can too generating new backgrounds and upload them to the platform using Firefly. The resizing feature contains presets for popular social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook that have specific image sizes.

Bulk Create does not require users to download a desktop application or obtain a Photoshop license. As long as someone pays for Adobe Firefly services, they have access to the batch authoring web app. The app also learns brand preferences so customers can customize how their images look.

Bulk Create is currently in private beta, but Adobe said the platform will become generally available in the first quarter of the year.

A math problem

Hanna Elsakr, vice president of product at Adobe Firefly GenAI for Enterprise, told VentureBeat that the mathematical problem of balancing image volume and update and editing time remains a major problem for many enterprise creative teams.

“There is unprecedented demand for content at every level, and it’s overwhelming for many creative teams,” Elsakr said. “And what I mean by that is we have more and more digital channels with a need for personalization with engagement.”

Elsakr said businesses, such as retailers, often need to update product photos for their websites and social media channels to reflect seasonality. That can mean about 52 refreshes per year, one new photo per week. Photoshoots are expensive, so re-editing an image to change the background or resize it for different social platforms is the more cost-effective option. While users would normally use Adobe’s incredibly popular editing tool, Photoshop, Bulk Create allows people who may not have Photoshop to access the editing features to accomplish these tasks.

Currently, Bulk Create only edits images, although Elsakr said video support may be coming soon.

Adobe has always been a major player in the creative space. In June 2023 he dropped an enterprise version of Firefly which offered “commercially viable” AI content. After its announcement, some creators of Adobe stock images expressed their concerns that the company can train the model with their work. In 2024, after users noticed certain wording in its Terms and Conditions by requiring customers to agree to provide access to their work, Adobe promised it not training Firefly on working with clients.

AI in creative works

However, using generative AI to generate or edit images is becoming the norm for many enterprises many artists believe that these tools train their work without their consent.

Most AI model providers have a model for image generation or editing. OpenAI there is DALL-E 3 which is now integrated into ChatGPT. Googleis Image 3 is now available to users and Meta allows people on Instagram and Facebook generating pictures. Other popular image generators include AI for stability and MidJourney. Even Getty Images has text to image generator.

As these tools become more available and if you switch to label AI-generated content is gaining momentum, more businesses will turn to AI to get the images they need. However, there is a a wider reaction against AI generated photos and the public has become very sensitive to art i believe it was made from a model.
