Adam Pauley’s heart breaks for Aubrey Plaza after Jeff Baena’s death
Aubrey Plaza in all thoughts as actors pay tribute to her husband, Jeff Brothersafter the shocking death of the director.
A friend and long-time collaborator of Baena Adam Pauly shared an emotional statement on Instagram on Sunday, Jan. 5, which read: “He was a talented filmmaker with impeccable taste and vision, he was a connector of people, a facilitator of opportunity, a guy who knew where the best restaurant was, no matter where you were. An over-friendly host with an almost alarming open-door policy, a film encyclopedia and, most importantly, a friend to me.”
42-year-old Pali, who worked from Baen Life After Beth, Joshi and Small hoursremembered as a film director “Strived for the truth” and that “nothing could sound, look or feel inauthentic” because it was a “direct reflection” of how authentic Baena was.
“You never worried that Jeff wasn’t telling you the truth. Because Jeff’s virtue told you the way it was, Polly continued. “My heart breaks for my friend Aubrey and the Baen family and for all of us who spent time on his set, at his home or in his orbit. Thank you for believing in me Jeff, may your memory be a blessing.”

In the comments section, Jeff’s brother, Brad Baenareplied, “I am broken.” Us Weekly on Saturday, January 4, it was confirmed that Jeff had committed suicide at the age of 47. Jeff was an indie filmmaker known for projects such as I Heart Huckabees, Life After Beth, The Little Hours, Horse Girl and Spin me.
Jeff often collaborated with his wife, whom he began dating in 2011 married almost ten years later.
“My first film was a huge learning experience on all fronts, so working with her was helpful because we have a shorthand and a close relationship,” Baena said of Plaza, 40, in an August 2022 interview. Newsweek. “As I’ve done more and more things, I’ve come to appreciate everything she brings.”
The kids raved about Plaza’s dedication to one’s workadding: “She’s insanely talented, so smart and obviously very good at producing. And she writes. There are very few people who can wear as many hats as she does, as elegantly as she does.’
He continued, “People usually mark her as the best role in any project she’s in. She’s like, insanely talented, and I’m so lucky to have her in my life.”
Plaza, meanwhile, discussed earlier have a partner in the same industry.
“I think when you’re with someone who works in your field, they understand what you’re dealing with on a deeper level. It’s obvious that you can support each other and really understand the journey we’re both on,” she told People in 2019. – So I think it can be very good. But, you know, working with a partner can always be difficult. There are a lot of things that we do separately, and I think it’s all about balance.”
The actress said that he took to work with pleasure along with Jeff. “I think one of the great things about our careers is that we get to be independent, take little breaks, go away, do our own thing and come back,” she noted. “So it’s fun. Nothing is the same. You don’t want to spend too much time apart. But I think there’s a way it can work, and there’s a balance to it.”
