According to News 5 ClevelandMewty was found dead near the avenue at the Warrensville Care and Rehabilitation Center around 7:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve. According to Warrensville Heights police, staff at the facility last allegedly saw Meuti at 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 23.

The nurse who last saw Meuti reportedly told police that the 84-year-old woman “appeared normal and was talking in a wheelchair.”

Later, the second was reportedly assigned to Meuti. However, around 9:30 p.m., a nurse discovered that the 84-year-old woman was “not in her room.”

A second nurse reportedly suggested that Meuti had gone to visit her brother. However, there was no record of Brother Meuti taking her away from the facility’s visitor log. In addition, the second nurse allegedly did not notify staff of the 84-year-old’s absence.

Around 12:30 a.m., the nurse allegedly punched Meuti’s brother several times. However, he did not answer.

“…she’s a new nurse… and didn’t know what to do after that,” the police report states. News 5 Cleveland.

Around 6:30 a.m., a nurse finally told a staff member that Meuti was missing. After that, a “purple code” was announced, the building was cleaned, which was reported to the police. After the officer arrived at 7:30 a.m., nurses reportedly found Meuti outside the facility “lying on her back.”

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, the cause of death for the 84-year-old man was “environmental exposure to hypothermia.” Police are reportedly investigating Meuti’s death and how she ended up outside the facility despite needing help to walk.
