There has reportedly been another twist in the Jakub Kiwior transfer saga as the Arsenal defender now looks set to leave in January.

The Poland international has struggled to play at the Emirates Stadium because there is so much competition for places in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Still, Arsenal will surely see Kiwior as an important player in the squad, with Tuttosport as quoted and translated by the Metrorecently stating that the The Gunners had rejected an offer from Naples.

Now, however, The Morning report that Napoli remain interested in Kiwior and that the player himself wants to be allowed to move to the Serie A giants.

Will Arsenal look for Marcus Rashford’s chance?

It will be interesting to see how this saga plays out as there will clearly be very different priorities for the various parties involved.

Arsenal must surely stick with Kiwior in order to manage to have a core squad throughout what could be a long and difficult season, with injuries and suspensions surely inevitable.

Kiwior can fill in at both centre-back and left-back, and has always done a solid job when called upon by Arteta.

Still, the 24-year-old is a good enough player to start at other top-flight European clubs, so it makes sense that he would apparently be interested in an opportunity with a big name like Napoli.

Arsenal probably won’t try too hard to hang on to an unhappy player if he tries to force his way out, but at the same time he will be hard to replace.

It won’t be easy at AFC to find someone else as good as Kiwior who is also happy to sit on the bench, so this presents a huge challenge for Arteta and co. before January
