This is what reportedly happened to Marjorie Jane Hibble
According to Northern News Now Hibble was a resident of Boundary Waters Care Facility. Emergency services were reportedly dispatched to the area around 4:38 p.m. on Monday, January 6. According to the report, a witness reported a fire at that location.
In addition, the report notes that Hibble’s motorized scooter “caught fire” while she was sitting near the facility. Hibble was reportedly “totally engulfed” before officers were able to remove her from the scooters.

According to the publication, as a result of the incident Hibl received serious burns. She was also taken to Ely Hospital before being airlifted to a hospital in Duluth, where she died.
Northern News Now adds that the state fire marshal is continuing to investigate the fatality. However, preliminary reports indicate that “smoking was likely the cause of the accidental fire.”
Finally, the publication notes that outside Hibl, an employee of the boundary water care facility was also injured. However, their lives were not threatened, and they were eventually released from the hospital.
