The mummy wakes up with a new movie in 2026
It’s been nearly a decade since we’ve had a major Mummy movie, and then Universal tried to relaunch their horror monsters via The Dark Universe and its only entry, The mummy. Since then, the studio has focused on other monsters such as Dracula and the people of the unseen and wolf varieties. But if you’ve been dying to see the mummified undead return to cinema, Blumhouse can get your fix with a brand new a mummy I click.
This new film will come courtesy of Lee Cronin, writer-director of last year’s Evil Dead Rise. In the brief press release, Cronin teased his film as “different from everyone else a mummy movie you’ve ever seen. I dig deep into the earth to discover something very ancient and very scary. The film will be co-produced by Cronin’s Doppelgängers company and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse (which has A wolf man arriving in just a few weeks) and James Wan’s Atomic Monster banner that has The monkey and M3GAN 2.0 lined up for 2025

In particular, this upcoming one a mummy the film is not from Universal, which distributed the botched 2017 reboot. and the Brendan Fraser-led Cults of the 1990s. Instead, this new film is from New Line, which previously partnered with Cronin Rise up and working with Atomic Monster on A spell and recent Mortal Kombat movies. Released by Universal some New Line films in the past (usually for international audiences), but this one seems otherwise to be in its own world, isolated from Universal’s a mummy. Which…hopefully they find a way to convey this properly so people don’t get confused?
We will learn more about Lee Cronin The mummy ahead of its release on April 17, 2026.
