Meta studies how people and robots can cooperate in housework

Meta Friday announced PartnrA new program designed to study the interaction between Robot (HRI). The study is specifically focused on how humans and robots can cooperate in the home environment. This includes secular tasks such as cleaning, cooking and collecting food supplies.

Automated housework is a decades of dream, the most famous of Jetsons Rosie. “Our indicator consists of 100,000 tasks, including household tasks such as cleaning plates and toys,” Meta wrote. “We also run a Partnr data set consisting of human demonstrations of Partnr tasks in simulation that can be used to train AI models.”

The simulation has become an increasingly useful tool in the implementation of robots, which allows organizations to test in seconds what can otherwise take hours or days to achieve in the real world. Meta, however, says he also had a success with the Partnr model outside the simulation. It has already been used for Boston Dynamics’ Screen Robot when testing. Meta has also built a mixed reality interface designed to offer a visual presentation of the robot decision -making processes.

“The potential for innovation and development in the field of robot human cooperation is huge,” Meta adds. “With Partnr, we want to rethink robots as future partners, not just agents and start starting research in this exciting area.”
