The tragic shooting unfolded in Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, January 22nd, which left the suspect and another student dead and another student injured.

Details on the Nashville Antioch High School shooting

The shooting happened in the Antioch High School cafeteria around 11:09 am. The police identified the shooter as a 17-year-old man Solomon Henderson who turned the gun on himself after the attack. He later died from his injuries, the agency reports CNN.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center confirmed that one female student died in the attack and was identified as a 16-year-old. Jaslen Correa Escalantetrans Tennessee. Another student was reportedly injured in the arm but is in a stable condition. In addition, CNN notes that an individual student suffered a facial injury, although they were not reportedly shot.

According to Tennesseeafter the incident, special forces searched for additional victims. However, “no one was found.”

Located in the Antioch neighborhood of Nashville, about 10 miles southeast of downtown, Antioch High School serves about 2,000 students in grades 9 through 12, according to its official website.

Antioch High School responded to the tragedy

Immediately after the shooting, the Nashville School District addressed the situation X (formerly Twitter). They confirmed the school was on lockdown during the incident, but assured everyone there was no threat to the campus. The district also promised to share updates as the investigation into the situation continues.

“Antioch High School is on lockdown due to shots fired inside the school building. Metro police are on the scene. The person responsible for the shooting is no longer a threat. We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on the reunion as soon as possible,” the school district said in a statement following the incident.
