In the midst of heated debate over the 90-hour work week debate, a former employee of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) spoke out against the president of the construction company S.N. In Subrahmanian’s defense, Subrahmanian remains a favorite child of controversy ever since his remarks about employees working 90-hour weeks went viral for all the wrong reasons.

A former L&T employee, identified as Amy Kulkarni, said in a post by X that the chairman’s remarks were in line with the construction company’s demands. during.

“I worked with Larsen & Toubro for two years. I also communicated with Mr. S. what his company demands,” he said in his post.

He also said that L&T is a hierarchical organization like the army, where knowledge, creativity and brilliance may not be as important as work ethic and discipline.

Needless to say, the L&T employee received a huge backlash from netizens.Social media users suggested that if L&T really has so much work, they should hire and train more people.

“If you have such a high demand for work, how about hiring more workers? But how will that work, if Mr. Subra can’t make up the base cost, he won’t.” get his paltry 50 million salary etc. Way to fool people lol (sic),” one user wrote.

“If your boss wants to finish the subway project in 5 years instead of 10, he should hire more people instead of making the employees there work extra hours. It will help reduce unemployment,” said another user.

“L&T should hire more people, train them and ensure they all work as per the law. You can’t expect to work 90 hours to complete your projects. Hiring more also increases employment,” said a third user :

“What’s the reasoning? If you want people to work at night so that the project is part-time, then you hire two teams that work at night and the others work during the day. If you make the same people stretch, it’s not just that be.They are causing problems in the project but they can’t work effectively it is probably wrong with running L&T but their execution often leads to cost increase gives more money to the govt I think in national interest accordingly, corporates like L&T should rethink their approach,” another user commented.

The L&T chairman’s remarks drew sharp criticism from actors like Deepika Padukone, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra and RPG Enterprises chief Harsh Goenka. While Padukone called the proposal “shocking”, Mahindra said it was the quality of the work that mattered instead of the number of hours.

Goenka, on the other hand, said working such long and taxing hours is a “recipe for burnout”.
