Didi does not envy Luigi Mangione: “There is no truth in this”
Sean “Diddy” Combs does not bother Luigi Mangione to join him behind bars in New York.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, multiple outlets reported that Didi, 55, was upset about the attention Mangione, 26, drew to him at the Brooklyn Detention Center.
However, a source close to Didi denied the idea that he was jealous of Mangione. “This story is completely made up and there is no truth to it,” the insider said exclusively Us Weekly.
Mangione, who is accused of murder CEO of UnitedHealthcare Brian Thompsonarrived in New York from Pennsylvania in December 2024 to stand trial on federal murder charges. (Mangione has pleaded not guilty to several counts of murder, including murder as an act of terrorism.)

Mangione is now in the same prison where Didi was since the arrest in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. (He denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.)
It was previously reported that Diddy shared a residence with a convicted cryptocurrency scammer Sam Bankman-Fried. Convicted of sexual crimes R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell and leader of the sex cult NXIVM Keith Raniere also spent time in the capital detention center.
In addition to living in the same prison, Didi and Mangione also share another connection – their lawyers. In December 2024, news broke that Mangione had hired Karen Friedman Anyifila represent him. The lawyer is married Mark Anyifilowhich takes place on Didi’s case.
A spokesperson for Friedman Agnifilo’s firm, Agnifilo Intrater LLP, confirmed us that she was retained to represent Mangione in New York. Friedman Agnifilo “will not be making any statements at this time,” the spokesman said us at that time.
Anyifila has expressed concern for the safety of his client since Didi ended up in the notoriously dangerous prison.
“From what I have been told, the food is inedible,” Anyifila said in an interview in September 2024 after Didi was denied bail, adding: “This is violence. Someone like Mr. Combs can be a target for certain things. We cannot allow that.” (The judge denied Diddy bail in four separate appeals.)
For now Uunaware of the conditions in the capital’s temporary detention center, several ex-prisoners spoke about their experiences in Cover for October 2024.
“It’s a horrible, horrible place,” an inmate who spent three months in prison in 2019 told us. “The air is not moving and the food is spilled.”
