Tom Brady talked to Bill Belichick about interest in Raiders head coaching job: report

Bill Belichick North Carolina may have agreed to become the Tar Heels’ next head coach, but interest in him from other NFL teams is reportedly still alive and well.

One team that stands out is the Las Vegas Raiders NFL Network reports on Wednesday.

New Raiders minority owner Tom Brady spoke with Belichick “recently” about his old coach suddenly leaving Chapel Hill for the desert. The report noted that Belichick has a $10 million buyout option in his contract if he leaves before June 1, 2025.

The NFL Network signaled that Jacksonville Jaguars can also be an “interesting” option.

The Raiders fired Antonio Pierce on Tuesday.

Brady and Belichick have a long history of winning together. The two led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles from 2000 to 2019. They dominated the NFL for two separate dynasties. Brady parted ways with the Patriots before the 2020 season and won another title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Belichick was with New England through the 2023 season when he and the Patriots mutually agreed to part ways. He interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons job but was unsuccessful. He then surprisingly became an analyst for one season before being bought out The North Carolina case.

He is 302-165 as a head coach between the Patriots and Cleveland Browns.
