Leeds transfer news

Once again in the midst of a promotion race and looking to avoid heartbreak at the second time of asking, the January transfer window could quickly prove decisive for the Elland Road side. It is attracting many suitors.

The central defender remains an integral figure below Daniel Farkeso losing him halfway through a promotion charge would be the ultimate blow to Leeds. That said, the Whites also have the chance to take advantage of the winter window and have already been linked with teams such as Emiliano Buendía as a result

The Aston Villa midfielder has struggled for game time since returning from a long-term injury and is in desperate need of a chance to get back to his best.

However, instead of an offensive reinforcement, the 49ers Enterprises seem to be focusing on a defensive addition next month. According to Top Mercato, Leeds have made an initial bid to sign Abdukodir Khusanov ahead of the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Offering around €20m (£17m), Leeds are likely to come up short in their first bid, with RC Lens valuing their centre-back at around €30m (£25m ) if they want to grant his departure in the January transfer window. It remains to be seen whether the Elland Road side decide to meet that price, but Khusanov is certainly one to keep an eye on.

At just 20, the Uzbekistan defender has attracted plenty of interest and could have a good decision to make if Leeds press ahead with their pursuit of his signature next month.

The “tenacious” Khusanov would ease Struijk’s concern

Given recent reports and their recent history of losing star players, it’s no real surprise that Leeds are being linked with a young centre-back who would instantly ease any damage caused by Struijk’s potential exit.

Of course, he remains a key man under Farke as things stand, but things can change quickly at Elland Road. The last thing they need is to lose their best defender without having a suitable replacement.

Impressive numbers for a more experienced defender, let alone a 20-year-old, it should come as no surprise that the likes of Manchester City and Spurs are also apparently keeping an eye on Khusanov.

Described as “tenacious” by Jacek Kulig, football scoutthe Lens star’s best football is yet to come. From now on, the main question is where he will become the main man and who will benefit. Having submitted their first bid, Leeds will surely be hoping that it is Farke’s side who can reap the rewards of signing this talent.
