Kuldeep Yadav has started bowling in the nets after his surgery. The left-arm spinner was slow in his approach but picked up pace as he bowled more. He posted a story on his Instagram handle where he was seen bowling on the nets. He is likely to be currently in Kanpur with his childhood coach Kapil Panday.
Kuldeep suffered a groin injury during India’s home Test series against New Zealand and was ruled out of the last two Tests of the series. He was operated on in Germany and is believed to have gone well.
After his surgery, he underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bangalore, where he focused more on leg exercises to increase his strength. The NCA officials did their best to prepare him for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Although he is yet to receive a clean sheet from the National Cricket Academy, Kuldeep has started bowling in the nets to get into a bowling rhythm. He will look to regain more strength in the coming days and start bowling at full speed.
Kapil Panday talks about Kuldeep Yadav’s comeback
A few days ago, Kuldeep Yadav’s childhood coach Kapil Panday revealed the status of his injury and claimed that he might start bowling soon. Panday mentioned that Kuldeep will visit his hometown Kanpur and start bowling. Both will make additional plans accordingly.
“He should start bowling this month itself. I am pretty sure. He will be here (in Kanpur) next week and then we will make more plans. It might be a bit early to predict Kuldeep’s comeback as he will resume first bowling and then he will have to play a practice game or two while going through the other tests and processes,” Kapil Panday had said.
Kuldeep Yadav last played an ODI during India’s tour series in Sri Lanka, where he picked up 4 wickets in three matches at an average of 25.50 and an economy rate of 3.40. The left-arm wrist spinner is India’s first-choice spinner in ODI cricket, making him crucial for the Champions Trophy.
