The militants died at least five people after firing a group of tourists visiting a famous beauty spot in Kashmir in India.
Attack in Pahalgam, a picturesque city in the Himalayas is often described as “Swiss in India.”
Prime Minister of the region Omar Abdullah said the attack was “greater than anything we head to civilians in recent years.”
The reports said a number of people were injured in the attack. The region’s lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, army and police said the police were placed in the scene.
Mr. Abdullah condemned the attack: “I was shocked by faith. This attack is disgusting to our visitors.”
No group said they were behind the attack, but since 1989 have been a long-term rebellion in the Muslim-majority region, although violence has extensions in recent years.
