Framework Laptop 13 (AMD, 2025) Review: Long Game

The Ryzen AI 7 350 is equal to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus or Intel Core Ultra 7 256V, give or take. It is a little behind in single -core productivity, measured by the Cinebench R24 and half a step forward in the multi -core. These processors are not known for being a power plant. More recently, the focus is on efficiency. This is where the AMD chip is solid in the last place. The battery life of the frame laptop 13 is improved by previous models, but it’s not as long as what you get on Snapdragon X or Core Ultra Series 2 PC.

The light battery test, which I released on the laptop 13, lasted approximately 11 hours, cycling a local video at Max Display Brightness. For my typical load, the life of the battery in real time sank to about 7 hours and a half. This is about the same as the original Framework Laptop 13, which I tested in 2021. Peripheral woes

There are some aspects of the laptop you will always stay with, namely the chassis. The design of the laptop, which benefits entirely from more effective chips in the future, should lead to larger laptops without losing their performance. But it is also worth noting that some of the other components are somewhat outdated as they are at the moment. The webcam is a good example. In 2021, when this laptop was first designed, 2-MP webcams at 1080p were a good resolution to be expected. Many computers move to 1440p or higher, as recently M4 MacBook AirS Apple upgrades the 720p webcam in 2020 to 1080p in 2022, and now until 12-MP in 2025. MacBook Air today cost the same as the 2020 MacBook Air.

The lower resolution screen in the initial configuration is outdated and with competition. My block has a higher resolution of 2.880 x 1,920 IPS panel with a 120-Hz refresh rateWhich is more than sharp, fast and enough color. The matte finish is great for diverting glare. But it’s in a configuration that costs over $ 1,500. For this price, many laptops offer even more OLED panels with significantly higher contrast and maybe even a touch screen.

The good news is that there is a strong chance that the frame will offer more components to reflect the current standard. The company is sold Webcam modules., speakersand Display kits For the older machines and there is no reason to expect that there will be no more new versions soon. But these upgrades will cost further and once again put your faith in the frame to deliver.

Fortunately, the Framework Laptop 13 is still a great starting place and it will take many more years before it feels really outdated. Today, this is more than a practical answer to the problem of e -wasteS This is really a single laptop.
