‘I felt it’: Ruben Amorim makes worrying admission about his Man Utd players after Bournemouth thrashing

Ruben Amorim has admitted there is a high level of “anxiety” at Manchester United at the moment following their devastating defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday.

For the second year running, Bournemouth thrashed the Red Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford in a result that leaves United 13th, closer to the bottom three than the top four.

Bournemouth had created very little until Dean Huijsen headed home Ryan Christie’s free-kick in the 29th minute.

The Cherries followed with two goals in two second-half minutes from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo to repeat their result at the Theater of Dreams last season.

Needless to say, Bournemouth’s traveling fans were delighted with what they saw from their side, serenading full-time manager Andoni Iraola knowing his side are now fifth in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim admits ‘anxiety’ at Old Trafford

While Bournemouth fans were jubilant, those of the United persuasion will be pulling their hair.

The opposition’s sloppiness and gifting of possession has become the norm at Old Trafford, while United have now conceded nine Premier League set-pieces this season – only Wolves (14) have worse record

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Amorim admitted there is an unhealthy amount of “anxiety” surrounding the players and supporters right now.

“Yes, not conceding anything to the opponent and then a set piece makes us more nervous, in the whole stadium, I felt it,” Amorim said (via Official Man Utd website).

“From the first minute, there is a lot of anxiety; this is normal for the context and is really disappointing.

“Then we created many chances to score and again, like against Tottenham, they score two goals and it’s very hard. After that third goal, it’s like everyone in the stadium is suffering: the fans, the players, everyone. It’s a difficult moment but we have to face it and prepare for the next game.”
