Phase out CNG-driven autorickshaws, ban petrol, diesel, or CNG two-wheelers in Delhi, Draft EV Policy 2.0 recommends
The Delhi government is scheduled to announce a 2.0 of its electric vehicle (EV) policy, which aims to reduce air pollution based on autorickshaws and electrical alternatives. The new registrations of CNG AUTORICKSHAWS will not be allowed, nor the existing permissions will be updated. Instead, CNG automatic permissions will be replaced or will be released exclusively through electronic authorization.
This step is a larger strategy that replaces fossil fuel-based vehicles used by Delhi integrated Delhi integrated multifunctional transit system (DTC) and DTC.
In addition to Autorickshaws, politics loses the replacement of CNG AutoRickshaws with batteries with battery. The two wheels working on gasoline, diesel or CNG will meet like August 15 2026. Politics also stipulates that August 15, 2025, there are no permissible three-wheeled number of diesel, gasoline or CNG. These funds are part of aggressive pressure, rely on fossil fuels and to improve air quality in the capital, said officials.
The policy project also presents significant changes in urban waste management. All garbage collection belonging to the city authorities, including Delhi and New Delhi City Council, must pass electrical vehicles until December 31 2027.
Moreover, public transport buses operated by DTC and Dram will pass electric buses for intra-community operations, only Bharat Stage VI (BS VI) buses are used for interdepartmental services. This shift is aimed at reaching 2% electric fleet in a phased manner, they added.
For private car owners, politics states that individuals who already have two vehicles should choose an electric car after buying a third vehicle. This proposal will be valid after the official notice of EV Policy 2.0. The EV policy ended on March 31 has been extended within 15 days to allow the finalization of the new project. Approval from Delhi Cabinet is expected to be implemented soon, targeting a total reduction in the city’s air pollution, added.
