$73K DC inauguration hotel package sold out

Some people are spending tens of thousands of dollars just to be in the nation’s capital when President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Vance take the oath of office.

The Watergate Hotel Washington, D.C., has offered a package “to commemorate the 60th Inauguration of the President of the United States,” with a starting price of $73,500 before taxes.

The package at the five-star luxury hotel, whose name is synonymous with one of the biggest political scandals in US history, was not only sold out, but also non-refundable and non-cancellable.

It also does not include a ticket to Monday’s ceremony where Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

Those who have paid for an overbooked package will enjoy a private Blade helicopter ride from New York City to Washington, DC.

Upon arrival, they will be escorted in an armored Mercedes-Maybach.The package also includes an overnight stay in the Presidential Suite, as well as a “Presidential Welcome Amenity” containing special stationery with a wax seal and a souvenir Watergate crystal, according to the hotel’s website.

Guests will also be treated to a private tasting of the Royal Selection Menu of whiskeys with the Watergate Hotel’s Whiskey Consul.

According to the hotel’s website, they will also get a tour of the Scandal Suite, where the infamous 1972 scandal took place. Democratic National Committee was held.

According to its website, the hotel boasted a “glamorous reputation” before it was “overshadowed by a political scandal” in June 1972.

In the early morning hours of June 17, five men broke into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate Hotel and Office Complex in Washington, D.C., which eventually led to Richard Nixon’s resignation as president.

“Since Nixon famously declared ‘I’m not a crook,’ the Watergate Hotel has seen many renovations, but none that have embraced its original design or lavish patrons, until now,” the hotel’s website says.
