Swiss snowboarder Sophie Hediger represented the country in the competition 2022 Winter Olympicsdied in an avalanche at a ski resort, authorities said Tuesday. He was 26 years old.
The incident happened on Monday in Baku city Arosa resort in Switzerlandthe country’s ski federation reported on this.

Swiss-Ski CEO Walter Reusser said in a statement: “We are stunned and think with Sophie’s family, to whom we offer our deepest condolences.”
” with tragic death Sophie Hediger cast a dark shadow over Christmas for her Swiss ski family. We are saddened beyond measure. We will keep the honorable memory of Sophie,” he added.

Hediger participated in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He competed in snowboard cross and mixed team events. He failed to qualify for the quarterfinals in the singles event and his team lost in the mixed event in the semifinals.
Hediger made a comeback when he won gold at the 2023 FISU World University Games in Lake Placid, New York. He was one of three Swiss competitors to win a gold medal.

He then scored two World Cup podiums, including a second-place finish in St. Moritz in January.
