Donald Trump‘s presidential transition team announced Monday the schedule of official parties, gatherings and other events that will surround his inauguration as the 47th president of the United States next week.
The four-day program includes a fireworks show and three VIP events at Trump’s golf course outside Washington, D.C., as well as a celebratory MAGA rally ahead of his inauguration.
It also includes three inaugural balls, which is relatively small by the standards of recent presidents and seems even more modest given the record sum at Trump’s inaugural committee’s disposal.
Trump Vance’s Inaugural Committee has raised more than $170 million and is on track to raise more than $200 million. NBC News they reported.
The nonprofit committee is tasked with planning and hosting much of the spectacle that traditionally accompanies a presidential transition.
It does not include Trump’s inauguration at the Capitol or his inaugural address, both of which are paid for by a special joint committee of Congress.
Outside of balls, several of Trump’s events will be held at his Virginia golf course.
Unlike in 2021, when President Joe Biden displays fireworks over D.C.’s National Mall, the fireworks at Trump’s club will explode more than 20 miles from Capitol Hill, unseen by most of the public.
Trump’s second inaugural committee, like his first in 2017, will host fewer events and be more cash-strapped than those of other recent presidents.
Former president Barack ObamaFor example, the 2009 inauguration featured 10 official balls, along with dozens of other unofficial events. Its founding committee was raised 53 million dollarsit was a record at that time.
Former President Bill Clinton attended in record numbers 14 official balls During his second inauguration in 1997, he reportedly collected less 24 million dollars.
the president Joe Biden It did not host any balls in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Trump’s massive fundraising and relatively sparse schedule mirrored the circumstances of his 2017 inauguration, which raised $107 million and spent more than $97 million in just two days.
The unprecedented jump in spending was nearly $37,000 per minute, more than four times the $8,600 per minute spent during Obama’s first inauguration. OpenSecrets was calculated in 2018.
The current Trump inauguration committee did not immediately respond to CNBC’s questions about its fundraising and spending plans.
Some top CEOs and companies are eager to warm their once frosty relationship with Trump by slashing U.S. economic policies, including all kinds of other taxes and regulations, and potentially imposing sweeping tariffs.
It’s the first committee to receive millions of dollars in donations from a number of companies, including many tech giants that declined to contribute to the 2017 inauguration.
Last week, Lina Khan, chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission, suggested as much to CNBC Amazon and Facebook parent Meta can work to get”my love“from the next Trump administration.
Perhaps in response to the increased interest in currying favor with Trump, the inaugural committee is asking top donors to give a minimum of $1 million — more than twice what it requested in 2017 — for a chance to meet the president in person. or vice president-elect, The Guardian reported on this.
