Shirilla was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in 2023 after prosecutors convicted him of “shocked remorse,” but in a show of mercy, a judge ordered the two terms to be served concurrently rather than consecutively.

He will be eligible for parole in 15 years instead of 30.

Russo and Flanagan were pronounced dead at the scene, while Shirilla was unconscious and had to be extricated from the car.
