‘Blues Brothers’ actress Delice Curry dies aged 95 in LA Wildfires

Retired actress Delis Curry died in the wildfires in Los Angeles. She was 95.

“About an hour ago, the coroner confirmed that her remains were indeed found on the property. #RIPMOMMADEE 🕊️”, Kari’s great-granddaughter, Delys Kellywrote via Facebook on Sunday, January 12. “We had a great run. She has influenced my life in many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Curry has acted in a variety of films including Ten commandments, Lady sings the blues and especially The Blues Brothers. But in Kari’s family, she was best known as Mama D.

If forest fires broke out Last week in Los Angeles, Kelly, who was Cary’s caretaker, shared on social media on January 8 that her great-grandmother’s home in Altadena had been destroyed the fire of Ethan. She explained that during this time they were unable to locate and contact Kari.

“My grandma’s house burned down has anyone seen MOM DAY,” Kelly wrote via Facebook at that time. “The shelter was searched for the third time. Not here.”

The last time Kelly saw her great-grandmother was the day before the devastating fire started in Pacific Palisade. Officials later escorted Kelly to what remained of Curry’s home.

“It was total devastation,” she told local residents news agency ABC 7. “Everything is gone except her blue Cadillac.”

Kelly too general staff destruction via their Facebook page. While on the grounds, Kelly called to see if Curry was somewhere among the rubble.

On Jan. 7, a strong storm driven by Santa Ana gusts sparked fast-burning brush fires along Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive. Many drivers abandoned their cars in search of safety, according to reports Los Angeles Times. The Ethan fire started that same day. The causes of both fires are being investigated.

The Eaton fire is currently 33 percent contained, while the Pacific Palisades fire is only 14 percent contained. According to CNN24 people have died in the ongoing fires. Governor of California Gavin Newsom said there were “probably many more” deaths as people were still missing and search and rescue efforts continued.

Former Australian child actor Rory Sykes also died in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. He was 32 years old.

“It is with great sadness that I have to announce that my wonderful son @Rorysykes passed away yesterday in the Malibu fires. I am completely heartbroken,” Rory’s mother, author Shelley Sykeswrote via X on Thursday, January 9th. “(He was) a British-born Australian living in America, a wonderful son, a gift, born on my birthday and his grandmother’s birthday on July 29, 92.”
